Why am I here?
I know why I'm here....how about you? Here's a few reasons why you might have found yourself in my office.....
- You are an administrative professional (receptionist, admin assistant, practice manager) OR a medical professional (GP, RN, allied health worker)
- you are looking to join a practice that supports an holistic approach to primary care, not just sausage factory script scribes.
- you believe working as a team of GPs, nurses, allied health workers and administrative professionals is the best way to achieve individual and community health outcomes.
- you are an overseas trained doctor
who needs to be in an "area of need (AON)", "district of workforce
shortage (DWS)" or "RMMA3 or greater" practice.
- you like to have a good day at work
Sound like you?......well take a seat.
I manage 4 clinics spanning from the Illawarra to the Southern Highlands. We are not one big homogenous corporate
entity, but rather a cluster of individual practices, each reflecting the unique
character of the community it serves and working in cooperation with its other
sister clinics in the region to offer the best in primary care.
Amongst these 4 clinics I feel I have something for every doctor. So How about a tour? I'll start from the North and slowly take us further South and then into the highlands.
Well it all really started at the Northern Polyclinic (NPC) which has had a presence in Corrimal since 1992. She is the oldest of the clinics I manage and kind of like a big sister to the other clinics, offering after hours support on the weekends. Located just 5 minutes drive from the beach and an hour and 15 minutes from Sydney it's probably the closest DWS practice to Sydney. On top of that the NPC has AON status until 2011 making it a good choice for OTDs wanting to work whilst they prepare for their fellowship exams. The NPC is a busy general practice that serves the Northern Suburbs of Wollongong and is amply equipped with 7 consulting rooms and nurse. Considerable development is slated for completion in 2011 for the local area and I anticipate that the NPC will continue to grow vigourously into the future.

The Southern Polyclinic (SPC) is the NPC's sister clinic located 25 minutes drive South, with both AON and DWS status. Very much in the style of the old fashioned family clinic the SPC enjoys a very warm and close relationship with its patient community, yet runs as a fully paperless modern office. The SPC has 5 consulting rooms and a huge treatment room.
Located on the grounds of the University of Wollongong the Campus Doctor (CDr) takes care of all the staff and students as well as the locals in the surounding suburbs. After having a presence in the university since 2005 for 5 years the CDr had a hiatus of a couple of years before reopening in Feb 2007. It is now located in a stylish and funky purpose built area of the Unicentre. The CDr does not have AON but is a DWS. It's boutique style premises includes 2 spaceous consulting rooms with a dentist and optometrist that share the space.

The newest of all the surgeries recently opened on the 7th September 2009 in the Southern Highlands village of Robertson (RRMA5). Extensive renovations have turned this premises into a purpose built surgery with 3 consulting rooms and even a gallery space. The Robertson Doctor (RDr) with its multipurpose space is already proving to be more than just a surgery, providing the community with many activities that enhance wellness. RDr's rural classification makes it ideal for OTDs who require a rural placement.
Well that's a start anyhow. You can find more information on each particular clinic by clicking to their site icon.
All the practices are accredited and whilst we continually strive to be leaders in our field we take the tme to recognise the humanity in what we do.
If you are a doctor who shares our vision of inclusive and universal health care for all, then I'd really like to meet with you and chat.
